Start Saving Now For The Christmas Season

-->

The holidays are upon us once again and it’s time to start thinking about saving money for holiday uses. If you haven’t started saving yet, why not?

There are many ways to alleviate the anxiety of holiday spending.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Start a Christmas club account every November. Deposit $20 every week; add the interest and you will have around $1200 come the following November 1st. This is the simplest way to save holiday money.
  • Every time you go shopping somewhere, use coupons. Keep a running total in your wallet or purse of what you saved each time. When you get home, add that amount to a fund you are keeping for holiday needs. It was money you would have spent anyway, so you won’t miss it.
  • Shop at second hand stores. You can really find some great bargains at these places. Just stop in and look around. You might be pleasantly surprised at what you can find. Add that the price is about 85% lower and I think you see the benefit of this.
  • Watch the sales racks in major chains. Sometimes they’ll offer extra items for an incredible discount! You never know what you’ll find.
  • When you DO go out gift shopping, set a budget and stick to it. Discipline yourself to spend a certain amount… and don’t spend a penny more. Be smart and don’t fall into credit card debt that you’ll fight with for the entire coming year.
  • Whatever happened to homemade gifts? These are a great idea that has been left behind. Anything goes and anything is available that your mind can conjure up. Let your creativity run amok and see what you can come up with.
  • If you set a limit on how much to spend on each person, buy him or her a gift card from his or her favorite restaurant or store. They can pick out the gift themselves, you look like a pro AND you stay in budget.

All of these are great ideas to help save money before and even during the holiday season.

One way that nobody ever thinks of is this: Do All Of Your Shopping With Cash Instead Of Using Credit Cards!

Sounds harsh, but the interest from credit card debt can cripple you for the entire year ahead. Don’t fall into that trap. Use cash wherever possible.

In conclusion, here it is in a nutshell:
1. Start saving early.
2. Don’t overspend.
3. Stay within the limits you set.
4. Shop sales and second hand stores.
5. Consider home made gifts.
6. DO NOT USE THOSE CREDIT CARDS!

If you follow these simple guidelines, you can really enjoy this upcoming Christmas season a lot
